| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - Great grill New house, new grill. It really is exceptional. This is our first long-term investment grill, and, now that I see the build quality, I realize how stupid it was to buy a $100 grill every three or four years like I had. This has a higher initial price, but it's the first grill I've ever had that has reached and maintained a constant temperature and cooked consistently. Once you learn where and how to set your knobs for heat control it's as easy as cooking something in your kitchen's oven, and it's plenty big for a family of four. I'm posting a photo of the grill open with three large boneless chicken breasts to give people an idea of capacity. I'm very impressed.
I can't stress how well built it is. I'd looked at the home improvements stores at their stock of higher priced Weber Spirits, but this one is less expensive and much better built. It does use a lot of plastic for the stand and side tables, but I haven't felt uncomfortable with it. It's designed well and is very solid, and much heavier than I expected. A very stable platform.
It's not a deal maker or breaker, but I'd thought the lid handle light was a silly idea when I was putting the grill together (piece of cake, btw). It turned out to be a very good idea. It can be turned on manually, or it can be set to activate when the lid is lifted. No carrying flashlights out and no shadows on the food when cooking at night. It comes with couple of replaceable Weber branded tin drip pans, but I'm sure the size is something easily available in the baking aisle. It's nice to not have to use a soup can. It's little details like that make me confident the rest of the grill is as well thought out.
If you keep your eyes open you'll find Amazon will have it on sale occasionally. If you don't have a garage to put it in between uses, use the money you save to buy the Q 6553 cover. It fits perfectly. + See Full Customer Review | |
